Oysters—Marine mollusks having a rough irregular shell found on the sea bed, mostly in coastal water. The coastal waters of Brunswick County produce an abundance of oysters. Each year, over 30,000 people, including locals and visitors, attend the North Carolina Oyster Festival to pay homage to the mighty mollusk.
2007 marks the 27th anniversary of the festival, which will be hosted by the Brunswick County Chamber of Commerce on October 20 – 21 in Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina.
The 27th Annual North Carolina Oyster Festival will feature live entertainment, a road race, surfing contest, kids area, North Carolina Oyster Shucking Championships and an Oyster Stew Cook-off.
