Background on Print

The poster is reminiscent of the early 1980’s- harvesting our local oysters & roasting them at the Ocean Isle Beach Airport hanger. The New Bridge was added to the painting to denote a sense of place. Other memories from early Oyster Festival days include eating fish and oysters served under the National Guard tents, enjoying great food & fellowship and foot-tapping music.

Many thanks to the “models” in the painting, L-R, Rex Gore, Robby Robinson, Butch Redwine and one mystery person, for permission to use this old newspaper clipping. Thanks to the oysterman model, Max Lauzon.
