    From the Cape Fear River to the mouth of the Waccamaw, the Coastal Carolinas are a treasure trove of diverse and picturesque houses of worship, intriguing faith stories histories, all of which reflect the early settlers of the region. Learn about the influence of the Church of England, the Presbyterian connection to the Scottish Highland immigrants, the French Huguenots who fled persecution in France by coming to the New World, African-American churches after the Civil War and their histories of independence, the roots of Catholicism in the coastal Carolinas, the early Methodist and Baptist churches, the early Jewish Synagogue, the 1900 emergence of the Pentecostal movement, and much more. This class counts towards the Heritage Guide Certificate pathway.
