Typically there are fresh tomatoes, greens, peppers, corn, potatoes, fresh eggs, plants, herbs, jams and jellies honey and more.  Located on Main Street in Shallotte behind Brunswick County Chamber of Commerce building. 

May - September

Southport Waterfront Farmers Market
Every Wednesday. The location on the Fort Johnston Garrison Lawn overlooking the Cape Fear River is a treat in itself. You can browse the beautiful local produce, baked goods and handcrafted items spread under ancient live oak trees. There is a breeze off the river as well as music in the air as entertainment is always available.

Now Through Labor Day
The Old Bridge Preservation Society launched its second annual Summer at the Old Bridge.  There will be a presence at the Old Bridge from 10AM – 1PM Mondays and Wednesdays.  Volunteers will be there to offer the history of the Old Bridge and information about the role it played in the development of Sunset Beach.  Evening programs are planned throughout the entire summer from 5-8 PM Tuesdays and Thursdays in addition to educational and historical talks by retired bridge tenders and long-time local residents.

Memorial Day – Labor Day
Ingram Planitarium -  is presenting a new show in the SciDome Sky Theater called Dynamic Earth. 1:00PM and 3PM every Tuesday through Saturday this summer. They are located at 7625 High Market St. in Sunset Beach.  Free family shows are featured every weekday at noon as well. For more  information call 575-0033 or 

Battleship NC- 
 Memorial Day, May 26, 2014, at 5:45 pm, people of all generations from across the State will gather together on the deck of the Battleship to pay their respects. Governor Pat McCrory will take part in the observance and will speak to the importance of military members and their contribution to North Carolina and North Carolina’s economy. This year we are also proud to have guest of honor and key note speaker Brigadier General Robert F. Castellvi, Commanding General, Marine Corps Installations, East/Commander, Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune.

An emotional ceremony, preceding and concluding with military musical arrangements provided by the 440th NC Army National Guard Band, and a 21-gun salute, the Executive Director of the Battleship, Captain Terry A. Bragg and members of the USS NORTH CAROLINA Battleship Commission invite the public to this free event.

N.C. 4th of July Festival Beach Day
In conjunction with the NC 4th of July festival, Oak Island Parks and Recreation invites you and your family to the annual Beach Day on July 1, 2013. Beginning at 9am with the horseshoe tournament, there will be live entertainment, dozens of family contest and inflatable rides at Middleton Park. There will also be a corn hole, bocce’, sand castle, and volleyball contest on the beach in front of the cabana. A skate boarding contest continues the fun at the skate park at 3pm. The fun continues at 7:00pm with a live beach band and shag contest at 46th & Dolphin and ends at 9:00pm with the annual Beach Day fireworks from Oak Island Pier.

5k run, walk & 1 mile fun run/walk. Entry fees are $20 before 6/8 and $25 after for one mile or 5k. $10 per event for Active Military & Law Enforcement.

At 9:05pm the Battleship fireworks
 spectacular will begin. You don’t want to miss this year as the fireworks display will take on new forms that have never been seen in Wilmington before. Primary viewing for the fireworks will be from downtown Wilmington. The entire Battleship complex on Eagles Island will be closed at 6:00pm and all vehicles will be required to leave by 6:30pm. Therefore, come early and visit the equally impressive Battleship NORTH CAROLINA before the activities in the evening. The production by PYRO SHOWS, an international award-winning pyrotechnics company, will dazzle residents and visitors alike. For those viewing the fireworks along the river turn your radio to WGNI 102.7 FM to hear a live radio broadcast of patriotic tunes. For those not able to be downtown, view the show on WECT TV-6 as they broadcast and stream the "BATTLESHIP BLAST" live from 9:00pm-9:30pm.

Battleship 101
Ship volunteers stationed throughout the ship engage visitors in specific subjects and areas including: gunnery, radar, sickbay, galley, engineering, and daily shipboard life. Free with Battleship admission.

Blue & Gray Navies
Carolina Living History Guild members will set up displays that highlight the history of the USS North Carolina and the CSS North Carolina during the American Civil War. Displays will include steam engineering, ironclad ship construction, navigation, small arms of the US and CS navies, and the “arts of the sailor.” Visitors will be able to view reproductions of period small arms and working models of steam engines, as well as many other items. Guild members will discuss with visitors the vast differences between the 1824 ship-of-the-line and the newly constructed Confederate ironclad gunboat, and how these differences highlighted the change in naval and military technology in the 1860s.

Oak Island Art Guild Arts & Crafts Festival
24th Annual Labor Day weekend festival is a celebration of local and regional artists and craftspeople who display and sell their handmade goods within sight of the ocean. Proceeds from the festival are used toward scholarships for local high school students, art supplies for teachers and to purchase books and media for the Brunswick County Library system. Food will be sold.

Sunset at Sunset
Event DescriptionThe Sunset at Sunset Festival will begin at the Sunset Beach Pier at 8am for a 5K run over the Mannon Gore Bridge.
The festival will continue near the Ingram Planetarium where you will be entertained by the Brunswick Big Band featuring Linda Ladrick and The Imitations.
The will be artisans, non profits and food vendors for you 
to visit.
We will be having a childrens section.
The event is free and fun for the whole family.

Trick or Treat aboard the Battleship NORTH CAROLINA  5:30pm – 8:00pm Batty Battleship, brother Buggy and their friends have come back to the Battleship for a spooktacular trick or treating time.  A lot of fun and no scares it is the best location for the family to share.  But don’t be frightened and don’t you fret we promise we’ll provide a zoo with animals to pet. With candy and sweets there’s plenty of treats you’ll be asking yourself what more should I eat? Come have fun aboard the Battleship NORTH CAROLINA for the 3rd annual Batty Battleship's Halloween Bash. Carnival festivities with popcorn, tattoos, caricature drawings and bounce house included trick-or-treaters of all ages will be begging not to leave. Admission is $5 per person. Kids 2 and under free.
