  • Muddy Oyster Mud Run 5k Challenge

    The dirtiest thing you will ever do is participate in this invigorating and challenging obstacle mud course. Obstacles include, but are not limited to, climbing over walls, carrying heavy objects, traversing bodies of water and crawling under barbed wire. Many obstacles are similar to those used in military training, while others are unique to obstacle racing and are employed throughout the course to test endurance, strength, speed and, dexterity.

    The Muddy Oyster will be the finishing event in a series of races held throughout the summer culminating in this final challenge. Individuals and teams can sign up for the series or you can run the final race on Saturday, October 10.

    This years road race will take place on October 18th on 1st Street at Ocean Isle Beach. There will be a 5K that begins at 8:00 AM, 10K that will begin at 7:30 AM.Enjoy a great run on beautiful Ocean Isle Beach. All race participants will recieve a Dri Wick T-Shirt* and a Die-Cast Medal*. Walkers are welcomed for the 5k (runners only for 10k race). 

    Awards presentation will be on the main stage on the NC Oyster Festival grounds.

    No inline skates or bikes, no refunds, and no pets.

    NC Shaggin' Oyster Competition

    Beach music is alive and well with the return of the Oyster Festival Shag Contest this year! The Coastal Shag Club of Shallotte is the sponsor of this fun event for observers and participants alike. Grab a partner and get your Shag on to compete in one of three divisions for your share of the minimum $1,500 prize money pool.

    The contest will take place on Sunday, October 18th, starting at 1:30 pm at the main stage. Competitors will dance to music selected by the contest committee and be judged by renowned local Shag legends to be announced at a later date. Contest divisions will be Amateur - those dancers new to shag dancing 3 years or less, Novice -- Non-professional dancers who are not instructors and have not won more than two previous dance competitions, and Juniors--dancers under 18 years of age.
